José Jijón FINCA SAN PEDRO - 4TH HARVEST MEJORADO - WASHED Ecuador

This is the season’s fourth and final harvest pass from José Jijón’s new farm, Finca San Pedro. Located at some of the highest elevations we have seen for coffee in Ecuador, San Pedro is one of the most beautiful organic farms we have visited. In the cup we find prickly pear, honeydew, and rose.

FROM JOSÉ JIJÓN

Hello everybody! I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported this project from the bottom of my heart. Coffee is absolutely beautiful; it’s literally a part of my soul, and I will always be forever grateful to nature and coffee and what better way to show my appreciation than to use this release with my second home SEY as a means to extend this message?

Love is a gentle offering, a kindness that asks for nothing in return. When we meet others with love, we honor our shared humanity, recognizing that beneath the surface, each person has unseen struggles, hopes, and dreams. We must remember that a single act of kindness can uplift and that a word can heal. We must remember how a gentle touch, a heartfelt smile, or a moment of understanding can ripple through someone’s life, offering light. It is in this freely given kindness that we find connection and a sense of belonging to something larger than ourselves.

Let this remind us of the peace found in living mindfully, loving fully, and approaching each moment with gratitude. By nurturing ourselves, we nurture the world around us. And what better way to do this than with a good cup of coffee?

One love!

ABOUT MEJORADO

Mejorado is a very unique variety mainly grown in Ecuador. Though it is colloquially known as Typica Mejorado, we now know — thanks to genetic testing by World Coffee Reseach — that it is actually a Bourbon variety cross-pollinated with an Ethiopian Landrace variety.

The cost of getting a coffee from cherry to beverage varies enormously depending on its place of origin and the location of its consumption. The inclusion of price transparency is a starting point to inform broader conversation around the true costs of production and the sustainability of specialty coffee as a whole.
