Victor Alfonso Bonilla LA CHORRERA - END OF SEASON ARUZI - WASHED Colombia

This is a fascinating coffee from a producer and variety we had never worked with until this year. Locally referred to as Aruzi, we suspect it is another Ethiopian Landrace being cultivated in Colombia. In the cup we find chamomile, honeydew, and peach.

ABOUT VICTOR ALFONSO BONILLA

Victor Bonilla is a young producer and certified Q Grader, representing a new generation of coffee growers actively engaged in tasting and evaluating their own coffees. This shift marks an important step toward building equity in the future of coffee. Deeply involved in the industry from a young age, Victor became a quality analyst in 2013, which ultimately inspired him to return to production and establish La Chorrera. He is currently growing an intriguing variety known locally as Aruzi.

ABOUT ARUZI

Only a few samples of Aruzi have been genetically sequenced, and the results have been too varied to draw any definitive conclusions. Further testing is planned, and we hope to have more answers by next harvest.

The inclusion of price transparency is a starting point to inform broader conversation around the true costs of production and the sustainability of specialty coffee as a whole.
